Every wine tells the story of a place. This one tells the story of a family. How Two Italian Bloodlines Became One Wine There are millions of descendants of Italians across the Americas. Entire cultures, communities, and identities were shaped by those who left Italy in search of opportunity, survival, or adventure. Their stories crossed oceans and generations. I am one of them. Like many Brazilians of Italian descent, I grew up carrying names, recipes, and memories that were never quite mine — inherited, borrowed, half-understood, but deeply felt. My name carries two branches of that history: Peccinini from Veneto and de Chiaro from…
Mauricio de Chiaro May 7, 2026 There is a paradox happening in the wine world today. Never before have wine lovers had access to so much information, so many critics, online stores, and social media channels. Yet at the same time, many buyers still drink within their comfort zones. That realization was one of the main reasons why I created The Wine Partners. I have always been passionate about wine. Over the years, I traveled extensively, visited producers, attended tastings, and immersed myself in different wine regions. But even with all that exposure, I noticed something about my own buying…
Prologue — When the Extraordinary Feels Ordinary Sometimes, life gifts us moments that feel simple — natural, even — until later, when we realize they were quietly extraordinary. While the majority of attendees were Brazilians living in the U.S., we also welcomed wine lovers from Argentina, France, England, Australia, South Africa, and Italy, creating a truly international gathering. What stood out?…
Linguaglossa, Etna – North, Sicily, Nov 2024 I was one of the 20 IWAs selected by VIA for the November edition of the Gita Scolastica, a themed field trip focused (not only) on Etna. During six days of immersion, we tasted around 200 wines in ten masterclasses and eleven winery visits. The IWAs came from the USA, Canada, England, the Netherlands, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Japan, Mexico, and Brazil. Renowned journalists participated, such as Marco Sciarrini (Cronache di Gusto), Alicia Dorey (Le Figaro), and James Button (Decanter), along with the celebrated presence of Pietro Russo MW. The…
